Difference between an Email account and Alias

This article explains the difference between a mail alias and an email account.

An email account has all the features to send and receive mail. You can use this account for example in the webmail of myhostingpartner.nl and in an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
When you send or receive email it will always be within the email account to read / respond.

An email alias has the function of adding an extra email address without creating a completely different email box. All emails sent to the alias address will also arrive at the selected email address.

As an example, we have the email account/address send@mijntestpartner.nl which we use to manage everything on the website mijntestpartner.nl. When we want to have another email address for example for a form. Then there can be created an alias for this.
We call the email address form@mijntestpartner.nl and set it up as an alias for



send@mijntestpartner.nlOp



.



This way, any message sent to form@mijntestpartner.nl is neatly forwarded to send@.
