View website statistics on the move
There are several ways to view your website statistics on the go on a mobile device. The most popular option is the Google Analytics app, which displays the same data as the desktop version, but in a compact format. In this blog post, we'll take a look at the Google Analytics app, which is available for both Android and IOS, and how you can use it to see your website performance on the go.
Installing the Google Analytics app
Installing the Google Analytics app is just like installing any other app on your phone. Simply go to your app store and search for Google Analytics, download the app and sign in with your Google account that you also use for your Google Analytics on your desktop or laptop. So you already need Google Analytics on your website hosting to see this.
Delay in statistics since Google Analytics 4
With the switch to Google Analytics 4, there is a permanent delay in the display of statistics within the short 24-hour period, so that yesterday's statistics are only really visible after a whole day. This means that the full picture is not always shown within a period of the current week.
It is therefore less useful to select this period in the app, as it shows fewer or incomplete statistics. It is therefore advisable to set the app to the previous week and take into account that the current results are not always correct, depending on when you look.
See visitors in real time
The most useful metric on the go is the real-time results you can see. They give you an overview of all users who have been on your website in the last 30 minutes, what device they used, what pages they visited, etc. On the go on your cell phone, this is often a metric that can be useful to you and you can see, for example, if your most recent ad or social media post is paying off.
Viewing different time periods in the Google Analytics app
As already mentioned in this blog post, it is not possible to display the most recent metrics. It is therefore best to set the time span of the data to a longer period, e.g. the past week or the current or past month.
Here it is often more convenient to view this on a desktop or laptop and not use it exclusively in the app, but if you are on the road or on vacation without a computer, you can use this. And here we come back to the main reason for using this app - viewing your overall statistics is still easier and clearer on a large screen than within an app.
Other options to achieve the same thing
To track your stats on the go, there aren't many other options that offer the same insights as Google Analytics. This is because Google Analytics has a direct connection to your regular Google Analytics and therefore remains a powerful tool. Similar solutions that you can use for this are installed on your WordPress website and can then be viewed in your WordPress admin environment.
So this is always a little more cumbersome than installing a dedicated app for this purpose. If you are mainly focusing on the content performance of your website, you can use the Google Search Console Insights app. This isn't actively available in an app store, but you can install it by logging into Google Search Console on your mobile device in a browser and then navigating to Insights.
You will then receive a pop-up window with the option to install the app. Do you also track website statistics via an app? Or do you use a different solution for this? Let us know via social media!
