More than 115,000 Drupal sites not protected against leak
More than 115,000 Drupal sites not protected from vulnerability
At MijnHostingPartner, we think website security is one of the most interesting things out there. For example, we recently found out that more than 115,000 Drupal websites were not protected against a particular leak. The leak goes around with the name Drupalgeddon2, this leak however has already been closed in the newer versions of Drupal. So we recommend all Drupal users to update this as soon as possible.
What is Drupalgeddon2?
Now of course the question is what is Drupalgeddon2.Drupalgeddon2 is a vulnerability that allowed malicious users to execute malware on standard Drupal installations with user rights. With this they could execute all kinds of code that was harmful for the Drupal website. If you have a website running Drupal you don't want this to happen. Therefore it is advisable to update your Drupal website as soon as possible. This exploit also attracted a lot of malicious hackers who performed automated exploits.Malicious things they used are things like Crypto miners, Trojan horses and many more, this was done only a few hours after it was announced!
What can I do to keep my website safe?
We at MijnHostingPartner do not like to see your website hacked, but what can you do to make your hosting more secure?First of all, it is wise to always update, think of the cms you use, themes, plugins and so on.The reason that these updates should be as up to date as possible is because a lot of these updates are security updates. It is also wise to change your password once in a while.Do not think of a simple password but consider using a random password. To make this easier for you, we also have a password generator. If you have any questions about the security of your website you can always see if someone is available on the chat.If no one is available you can always send a ticket to our helpdesk!
