WPForms
We start with WPForms, this is a plugin that makes it very easy to create a simple contact form.The first impression of this plug-in is already good.
After you have downloaded and activated the plug-in you will be redirected to a page where you have a number of options.You can choose to create a form directly or to read the manual.
If you click on read the manual you will be redirected to the WPForms website.Here you will find a video tutorial on how to create your first contact form.
If you find the video too long you will also find screenshots of how to set it up.This is especially useful for beginners and it will help you get the hang of things in no time.
Once you get started you have a choice between a number of templates.An empty form, a simple form, a newsletter form and a comment form.
For a simple contact form you can just select a simple contact form.In most cases this will be more than enough to get started.
On the left side of the form you will find a drag and drop system with various options.You can easily drag these between your contact form to customize it to your liking.
One drawback is that many of these features are paid functions.The cheapest licenses for this cost about 80 euros per year and the most extensive license costs over 600 euros per year.
Advantages of this plug-in is that it is easy to use and very clear.The only downside to this plug-in is that a license for it can be very pricey.Contact form setup with WPForms.
Ninja Forms
Next on our list is Ninja Forms, the first impression of this is fine.After activating this, you immediately have the option to create a form or use the template.
If you want to create a form you immediately have more options than with WPForms.For this blog post we decided to use a blank form.
Next to it you will see a drag and drop system to fully customize your form.However, unlike WPForms you do not have any options here that are only for the paid version.
It didn't take us long to set up a simple form for this and have it in use.For most people, using the free variant is sufficient for this.
Out of curiosity, we of course also looked at what the paid variant has to offer.The cheapest paid variant is already available from 30 euros and the most expensive is 500 euros.
With the cheapest variant you already have access to customize the layout and upload files.Depending on whether you need this or not this is a good option that is reasonably affordable.
The biggest advantage of Ninja Forms is that the free version already has very extensive options.Furthermore, there are no real drawbacks to this plug-in except that for novice users it may be a bit chaotic.Contact form setup with Ninja Forms.
Contact Form 7
This is the most downloaded plug-in for contact forms.After activating it, I immediately noticed that this plug-in looks very nice in the admin environment.
The WordPress house style is used here so you will quickly get used to it.When the editor for this is opened it will look like this.
This is the template for a standard contact form and you can basically use it right away.For a novice user this can be somewhat confusing to see.
To add a phone number for example you can click on tel.You will then need to add a label to the form which can be added to the form.
To set this up correctly you can use the examples from the form.One of the biggest advantages is that this plug-in is completely free to use but you can donate if you want to.
The disadvantage is that if you are a layman in this field it can be very confusing to use.Also the lack of extensive features can be a drawback for some users.Contact form setup with Contact Form 7.
Formidable Form Builder
This form was actually completely unknown to us before this blog post.The first thing we noticed after activating this plug-in is how simple the layout of this plug-in is.
This makes it easy to get started with this right away and if you want you can import forms.However, when we wanted to create a new form we were immediately presented with a whole bunch of premium templates.
This list was so large that we first overlooked the free templates above.After choosing the default template we actually saw that the choices for the free options were quite limited.
Fortunately, for most contact forms this will be sufficient.The drag & drop system on the left side is fortunately very clear and it is easy to use.
The downside is that many functions are only available in the paid version and the paid version is on the pricey side.The cheapest variant is 150 euros per year and the most expensive 600 euros per year.Contact form setup with Formidable Forms.
Which one do we recommend?
We find it very difficult to make a recommendation on which contact form is the most suitable for your WordPress hosting.This depends on your own preferences and what exactly you need.
If you are a novice user WPForms is the best solution to use.It is very clear and easy to use and you can install a form in no time.
If you are going for speed you should use ContactForm 7.This is because of its simple layout, it does not take up many resources and your website will load quickly.
NinjaForms is best used if you are looking for extensive functionality.The one in the middle is Formidable Forms.It does not particularly excel compared to the rest but is a great choice if you want a little bit of everything.
