Host addresses for email

In this article we list which addresses are supported by MijnHostingPartner.nl for email. If you specifically want to know which steps to follow for a mail program, please check the appropriate category in the knowledge base.

-All hosts can only be used with myhostingpartner.nl in the name, not with your own domain name.
-These settings are for regular email addresses at MijnHostingPartner.nl, not for Exchange accounts.

IMAP, default incoming mail server. This is the protocol we almost always recommend to use. This is because it means the mail is always updated online on the server as well, and thus there is better cooperation between webmail and local devices.

POP, by now we recommend not to use POP, this because this downloads and edits everything locally. And thus does not work well with multiple devices and webmail.

SMTP, takes care of outgoing mail traffic and can be set up with the following details. Here it may be that a port is blocked by your internet provider. Therefore, we have an additional option for this.

Should you now not succeed in setting up your email program, always test it in the webmail. This is accessible with any browser via:

If it works there, you know that the problem is local. And you can continue testing. Telnet is also a handy tool for this.
