Troubleshooting email
Email is and remains an important part of any online business, and of course for personal purposes as well. With an email address from MijnHostingPartner.nl you have a broad functionality that you can use anywhere. In this blog post we have summarized the questions and problems that customers encounter. Let's get started to get the best out of your email!
Email can be set up on your phone, on your computer and on your laptop or tablet. Each device has an email client or program that allows you to see your email and respond to it. You are always connected to your company and to your customers. To get the best out of your email address at MijnHostingPartner.nl you can apply the following tips and tricks.
Help I can't login!
This is often the case on the online chat, that you cannot log in. The first pit stop that can be made is the webmail. The webmail can be accessed anytime, anywhere via the web browser of your choice. You can then try to log on to webmail.mijnhostingpartner.nl using your last known details. Here you can always see if the password is correct. If you can log in here then you should use that exact password for any other program. It is always a good tip to put passwords in Notepad on your computer, so you can see, copy and paste them. This ensures that you do not make any mistakes in entering a password. The file or notepad is then after use to delete or empty, since this is not a safe place to store a password.
If you can not log in within the webmail then you need the password of the email address again, this is done by logging into the customer panel and under Email accounts change the password again. For all steps you can look in the knowledge base. Then you see exactly how to fix this.
DNS and email, how does this work?
After setting the correct password it is likely that there are problems in the DNS of your domain for email hosting. This can have changed for a lot of reasons. And are easy to fix with the help of our new customer panel. We have recently made a video about this to make this even easier to recover. See the following article for this:

DNS is the driving factor behind your email, this ensures that your email is seen as safe, thanks to the SPF record, the DKIM certificate and DMARC. These all work together to sign your email, and protect your inbox against attacks and SPAM. With a simple change you can make sure your email does not end up in the SPAM of the recipient, and that your email messages are always signed for authenticity. A big advantage. With the MX records and autodiscover records you make sure that your email address is easy to set up on any device. With the input of only a few data you can quickly set up your email address. To make sure your records are active and correct you use the built-in check within the customer panel. The video explains this in more detail.
Additions you can make to the DNS records for your email
Further additions that first had to be made to the email records is nowadays not really necessary anymore. With the new customer panel we take care of almost everything for you. And create a standard DKIM certificate which signs your email with an extra handshake. A standard DMARC certificate and many other things. If you want to see more about this, you can always take a look in the customer panel under all DNS zone records. Here you can quickly see what is active for a new email address. And solve any problems you may have quickly with minimal effort.
The addition that you can make to the DMARC record ensures that you receive the error reports within your email address, this is recommended to activate to ensure that you have further insight into this.
Troubleshooting local email programs
In local email programs, it may be that an email address can not be set for a lot of reasons. We have covered over 30 different types of programs and operating systems in our knowledge base. And we recommend you to look between them to solve problems with your local email program. The addition we would like to give is that you should always use STARTTLS security on both IMAP and SMTP, and that you can use port 587 for outgoing email. In the past we often advised to use port 25 for this. But experience and changes in protocols has led us to recommend only port 587 for setting up the email. This works on almost every network where port 25 and 26 are blocked. And it has the great advantage of always being secure.
So consult the knowledge base if you want to see manuals for almost any program. And we always recommend Spark email, it works particularly fine and always.
